We have already reported that the launch serial production Communicator Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 for Windows Mobile can be postponed. This device can only go next year, thus omitting key period of high Christmas sales. Recall that XPERIA X1 model was presented by Sony Ericsson in February, which was announced that she will appear on the stalls in selected countries in the second half of the year.
The representative of Sony Ericsson Merran Wrigley denied these rumours, saying that the product produced and will not be any delays. “We promised to release this communicator in the fourth quarter and strive to contain the word” - said she.
Since becoming Sony Ericsson in the “club of Windows Mobile” all the leading manufacturers of smartphones and communicator, with the exception of Nokia, will have the device on this platform. However, despite its multi-year investment in development, Microsoft is forced to desperately fight for preferences of users and currently controls only one tenth the market of mobile platforms. The tight competition from the BlackBerry and iPhone helps drop in demand for smart phones running Windows Mobile, especially among top-class devices.
This led to Microsoft by June of 2008 has not been able to achieve its goal of 20 million copies of its operating system for the year. As stated by Ben Wood (Ben Wood), director of research company CCS Insight, to combat this trend, companies HTC, Samsung, and now Sony Ericsson have to rework the appearance of the current version of Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system and add features that attract the average user.
